Dan Brown started piano at a young age; studying classically. It was in his mid-teens however, when he first developed an interest in jazz after hearing alto saxophonist, Gilad Atzmon, perform with the Orient House Ensemble at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal. Dan went on to form a quartet and played extensively on the local scene, at venue’s such as Zefferellis jazz bar in Ambleside. Around the same time, he became a member of the Lancashire Youth Jazz Orchestra which led to performance opportunities with musicians such as Andy Greenwood. In 2014 he relocated to Glasgow to study under the wings of Tommy Smith and Paul Harrison, at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Since moving he has played numerous gigs spanning a wide range of line-ups and styles. In 2015 Dan was accepted into the Tommy Smith Youth Jazz Orchestra. In his short time with the band he has had the chance to play with some of Scotland’s finest young musicians. Also playing Delta blues guitarist and vocalist Jonny Mac and bassist Uri Stav take you into the early hours.
